When a Vision Becomes Reality, Success Follows

When a vision becomes reality, success follows

From humble beginnings to becoming one of the fastest growing providers of commercial design, fit outs and refurbishments, the Hasbuilt Projects journey has been as challenging as it has rewarding. As the world emerges from it’s Covid-induced slump, we are launching into what looks to be our busiest year yet, but before we do, we thought we’d share our story so far.

In November 2016, Hasbuilt Projects was launched by founder Tony El-Hasrouny, when our doors opened for the first time in a tiny office at 1 McLaren Street, Sydney. A small space it may have been, but Tony had already filled it with big dreams. With rich expertise and broad experience, he knew it was time to start his own business and he also knew he wanted Hasbuilt to be different.

Tony’s vision was to create a full-service commercial fit out business that would offer high quality, innovative solutions delivered through a totally client-centric service model. Hasbuilt Projects was destined to be a company in whose work, form and function would co-exist to deliver outstanding results and optimum client satisfaction. However, the biggest differentiator is possibly our most telling. From the outset Tony committed to the mission that Hasbuilt would always operate with the highest levels of integrity and transparency, no matter what.

A partnership founded on shared values and big ideas

As business steadily grew, Tony knew he would need to surround himself with like-minded industry experts in order to deliver his vision. In Managing Partner, Designer and friend Kenny Lau, he found a kindred spirit who also believed in the essential role of the office-space; “Design is the beating heart of any functional space. From the most complex environment to the simplest layout, it is the foundation for efficiency, collaboration and happiness for those who have to operate within it. These are the hallmarks of GREAT design.”

Together they took HasBuilt Projects on a journey of growth – establishing a reputation for quality, creativity, outstanding client service and importantly, honesty. From humble beginnings designing and implementing small-to-medium sized commercial interiors across Sydney, their partnership began to deliver a stream of satisfied clients and referrals. The team and the business had grown and the inevitable shift towards large scale projects up to 2500m2 became a reality.

With Kenny and Tony at the helm, the entire Hasbuilt business operates with a “passion for perfection” and the results speak for themselves.

People make all the difference

While the size of the projects has grown over the years, the Hasbuilt Projects ‘difference’ has remained the same – we are all about ‘people’. No matter how large or complicated the project, clients are never forced to deal with faceless account managers via email or text message. Instead, they deal face-to-face with Tony, Kenny and our burgeoning team of passionate experts – always real people and real faces committed to making every client project a success.

Hasbuilt Projects Today

Since he began in the industry, he has always believed that the workspace is the soul of any business, “To me, it is not just office space. It is the heart of your business, where you create value, inspire employees and impress clients and visitors. Whether functional, creative or a mix of both, your work-space should be something you are unreservedly proud of.”

Hasbuilt Projects now occupy our own Kenny Lau-designed offices at 99 Mount Street in North Sydney and employ ten full-time staff and up to 40 contractors at any given time. As of December 2022, we’ve delivered a whopping $45 million in projects and are proudly a trusted, benchmark provider of high quality design and construction, fit out and refurbishment services for large scale commercial projects and even entire buildings.

Despite the rapid growth, established reputation and growing client base, Tony and Kenny see this as just another stage in the evolution of Hasbuilt. From their humble beginnings, they have built a company that now competes, and competes successfully, across all size commercial spaces. Despite moving onto much larger and more complex projects, they remain true to their original vision- their design ethos and passion for creativity continues to inform all aspects of Hasbuilt Projects’ work.
